A Lovely Punch Needle Workshop with Sara Moore of Whole Punching
We were joined last Friday by Sara Moore of Whole Punching who ran a Beginner's Punch Needle workshop from our lovely Chesterblade Hills studio looking out over the Somerset countryside.
Sara was an absolute delight and everyone enjoyed their afternoon learning the basics of the slow and relaxing fibre craft of Needle Punching.
Sara's designs focus on bringing a modern feel to this traditional craft. Course attendees were given the option of choosing one of Sara's designs or creating their own design from scratch.
Sara took everyone through the basics of using the tools and had a practice run before tracing the designs onto the canvas and then starting their first punch needle project, a stylish wall hanging. By the end of the session, attendees were making great progress and were able to leave with the skills and materials they needed to finish off at home.
Here are some examples of the lovely punch needle work we saw on the day:
Sara tells me she had a great time and is already looking forward to a return visit. If you would like to hear when we have fixed the next workshop date, just drop me an email and I will add your name to the list: info@allabouttheyarn.co.uk
We stock Sara's Whole Punching kits, many of which are suitable for beginners. They are beautifully packaged with everything you need (with the odd exception where stated such as sewing needles/scissors/glue) so if you want to have a go without waiting for the next workshop, take a look at the kits. Sara's instructions are excellent and really clear.
