Color Spell Shawl KAL: We have reached the end!
The Color Spell Shawl Knit-Along has come to a close and what a magical time we have had making this beautiful shawl pattern by Joji Locatelli in Kremke Soul Wool's Edelweiss Alpaka 4-ply sock yarn 25g mini balls!
We have had a number of finished shawls along the way, encouraging those of us who are still going to keep knitting. Even though the knit-along has officially finished, of course, I am only ever an email away for participants who are still working on their shawls if they need any encouragement or advice!
My own shawl in the Autumn version of our yarn bundles is ready to be blocked and then I'll add the pom poms. I'm counting it as finished as all the knitting is done! Don't judge me 😆.
I'm planning on photographing/recording the process of how I wet-block my shawl for another blog post and YouTube video so you will get to see my completely, truly finished Color Spell Shawl very soon!
I enjoyed the Color Spell pattern immensely and the beautiful Kremke Soul Wool Edelweiss Alpaka yarn made it a pleasure from start to finish. Obviously it's lovely to have a gorgeous new shawl at the end of it all but I think the thing I will treasure most from this knit-along is sharing the journey with other people and hearing how much you enjoyed it too.
I've had such lovely feed back from participants about the pattern and the yarn. In our final Zoom call everyone agreed the pattern and yarn combo had been a "great choice for a knit-along", which was really nice to hear and has hugely encouraged me to organise more knit, and crochet, -alongs!
Here are some of the wonderful photos I've been sent along the way, from the very first stitches to finished, blocked Color Spell shawls!
On the Zoom call, we were discussing what to make with our yarn left overs. Janet suggested that as the Edelweiss Alpaka 4-ply is a sock yarn, we could all make striped socks which sounds like a really fun way to use up all the colours. I definitely need a pair of socks in this soft, squishy yarn!
I'll also be using some of my left over yarn to make a pair of Bunty Mitts (Ravelry link) by Ella Austin. I'm currently in the middle (literally) of making a pair of the Bunty Mitts as a shop sample in the Edelweiss Alpaka so it seems like a lovely idea to have my own pair in autumnal colours to coordinate with my shawl.
Thank you to everyone who joined in. I'm so pleased that the pattern and yarn both went down so well. A number people feel they have learned something new along the way which is just wonderful as it will build your confidence to try something new again!
Would you like to join us for future knit/crochet-alongs? Make sure you're signed up for my All About The Yarn emails and you'll be the first to hear all about what we have coming up next!
