Cambrian Wool DK is a plump double knit weight British Wool yarn that will work beautifully for DK and light worsted patterns. Cambrian's recommended gauge of 19 stitches over 10cm means that this yarn could work for many aran patterns as well as making a lovely, dense fabric in standard double knit patterns. As always, I'd recommend swatching to see if you're happy with the fabric you get for any given gauge.
Cambrian Wool started life as a CIC (Community Interest Company) and, although the business is in new hands and no longer run under a CIC structure, is still dedicated to supporting the local rural economy. A wonderful initiative that just so happens to produce wonderful yarn!
Cambrian Wool's dyed yarns are spun from finest Welsh Mule, described as Bluefaced Leicester with character! The Welsh Mule comes about by crossing the local hill breeds with a Bluefaced Leicester ram, and this cross improves the wool. Suited to clothing, this yarn has a good definition whilst developing a nice halo. Hand wash and don’t tumble dry!
The wool is produced on farms throughout the Cambrian Mountains Region, which encompasses much of Mid Wales – a stunningly beautiful and wild area.
