Isager Bouclé yarn is perfect for adding texture and interest when used striped with smoother yarns or even held stranded with other yarns to add textural interest. Knit on its own, the result is a light and airy fabric with incredible softness.
Because Isager Bouclé is an unusual type of yarn, it depends on the effect you are after as to what gauge and needle size will work for your project. As always, we would recommend a gauge swatch to see what works for you.
I have made a Lenu Hood in Isager Bouclé yarn on 4mm needles. The original pattern suggests a standard double knit weight yarn and I love the fabric I have achieved at the same gauge, all be it very different than the original pattern suggestion. Being a bouclé yarn, the textured seed stitch central panel is slightly "lost" but you can still see a contrast with the stocking stitch texture. For this reason I would personally avoid using Isager Bouclé yarn for patterns that have textured stitch patterns that need to stand out.
