Isager Soft (formerly Isager Eco Soft) yarn is a soft, fluffy blend of alpaca and cotton in a gorgeous range of undyed natural shades and introduced for 2024, six beautiful dyed shades. As "Eco" in the Isager ranges denotes undyed yarn, they have renamed the range Isager Soft and incorporated the new dyed shades into the range.
Isager Soft has a clever construction of a tube of organic pima cotton with alpaca fibre blown through.
Because of the construction, Isager Soft yarn offers amazing meterage for the gauge meaning this yarn offers excellent value. The fluffy effect of Isager Soft makes it a great alternative for patterns that strand a silk mohair with a DK yarn (of course we'd recommend a swatch to check your gauge and that you're happy with fabric).
Isager recommend using a 5.5mm - 6.00mm needle for a gauge of 15-16st per 10cm but this is a very flexible yarn and will work at anything from an aran weight gauge of 18st per 10cm for a denser but light fabric, up to a chunky weight gauge of 14st per 10cm for a looser, airy effect. We, as always, would recommend you make a swatch and measure your gauge after soaking and drying the swatch.
The original six undyed shades offer a beautiful natural palette. The undyed shades are denoted with an 'E' (for Eco) at the start of the shade name.
The new dyed shades for 2024 expand the palette and offer so many more colour possibilities.
