All About The Yarn

Knitting Kit: In The Round Cowl in BC Garn Hamelton Tweed 2 Chunky GOTS certified organic yarn

£11.90

This simple striped cowl came about as a project I designed for an in-person  "Introduction to Circular Needles" workshop. I was so pleased with the resulting cowl in this beautiful yarn that I decided to release it as a kit.

"In The Round Cowl" is a quick, easy knit and great for playing with colour. You can wear your finished cowl whichever way up you fancy. As the cowl was originally intended as a first circular needles project it's designed to be super easy but the colour changes give a bit of interest and it should suit anyone after a project that doesn't take too much brain power. It's perfect for gift knitting as you can work this up in a day or two.

Gauge is important for yardage. If your gauge is looser you may run out of yarn (and your cowl will end up a little larger than planned). If you do knit looser, just use a smaller needle size (or if you knit tighter, go up a needle size) I've given the gauge before and after wet blocking but do bear in mind the before-blocking gauge is specific to this yarn. If you make the pattern again and substitute another yarn, it's the gauge *after* blocking that will count.

You may also be interested in the matching "Magic Loop Mitts" pattern which uses the same Hamelton Tweed chunky yarn. They are little shortie mitts that are great as a first magic loop project and only take one 50g ball. You can have a look here.

The completed cowls shown here are in the Black/Orange and Lilac/Mint colourways but with 15 lovely colours of Hamelton Tweed to choose from, I've had fun coming up with a few other suggestions. Of course you may prefer to pick your own two colours. If this is the case, you can simply pick one ball each of Hamelton Tweed from the yarn product page here. If you do this, please type "In The Round Cowl" in the notes area at checkout and I'll make sure you get a PDF copy of the pattern (or just drop me an email).

If you have any queries about the pattern, just drop me a line: info@allabouttheyarn.co.uk (FAO Nicky).
