BC Garn Loch Lomond GOTS Certified organic yarn is a bouncy, woollen-spun tweed yarn with excellent volume and great yardage. The tweedy neps, inspired by traditional British tweed yarns, give a lovely rustic look.
Many of the yarns we stock are "worsted spun" which means all the fibres are combed to face the same way before spinning. In woollen-spun yarns, the fibres are prepared in a way that means they face all directions and do not lie flat, leaving more air pockets in the yarn which traps air and makes for very warm, light garments.
The recommended gauge for this is 18 stitches per 10cm which gives a light airy fabric at a standard aran weight gauge but this is a flexible yarn and it works well at a standard double knit tension of 22 stitches over 10cm.
Loch Lomond is GOTS certfified. This means from sheep to dye stuff, from production to stock keeping and packing, each step is inspected carefully and in line with very strict organic and social standards.
The raw wool comes from mulesing free farms in South America, the yarn is spun and dyed in Turkey.
